General Dynamics Land Systems, Canada has been given a contract of $35.5 million to provide 24 Light Armed Vehicles (LAV-A2) in various configurations to the U.S. Marine Corps. The LAVs are agile, mobile and can protect and support the Marine Air-Ground Task Force. The eight- wheeler vehicle is equipped with enhanced armour protection and an automatic fire-suppression system for the crew’s protection.
The vehicle production will be performed at General Dynamic Land Systems –Canada operations in London, Ontario and will be completed by April 2012. In total, 207 (LAV-A2) have been ordered by U.S. Marine Corps since 2007.
